Taiwan’s government statistics office is announcing that the consumer price index (CPI) fell by 0.13% in July. That’s 0.66% lower than the CPI for July last year.
The statistics office released the CPI figures for July on Wednesday. The latest figures show a consecutive drop in the CPI over each of the past seven months.
The office says that falling oil, gas and electricity prices are the main cause of the falling CPI. But the price of food has risen, while the prices of other goods have remained stable. The office says there is no worry of deflation.
