The US home of former first lady Madame Chiang Kai-shek has been put on sale. Madame Chiang had lived on the Long Island estate for 20 years in the 1970s when she moved from Taiwan to the United States.
The opening price for the 12.8-acre property is set at US$11.8 million. The manor is located in Locust Valley, an hour’s drive from Manhattan. The mansion includes nine bedrooms complete with full bathrooms, six fireplaces, a par-3 hole golf course, and an outdoor heated swimming pool.
Since going on the market at end of July, many from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand and the US have been inquiring about the property. More than 4,500 have gone online to view the manor. Ethnic Chinese have shown a particular interest in the property because of the fascination with Chiang’s life in the Chinese-speaking world.
