The foreign ministry says that holders of Taiwanese driver’s licenses are now eligible to apply for local licenses in eleven US states.
Holders of Taiwanese licenses meeting state requirements will be able to receive local licenses without having to take a driving test.
Maryland, Idaho, Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Delaware, Washington, Mississippi, South Carolina and West Virginia have all signed mutual agreements with Taiwan allowing drivers from both sides to exchange their original licenses for local ones.
The foreign ministry says that it will continue working to secure similar agreements with other US states for the convenience of Taiwanese nationals living in the US.
