President Ma Ying-jeou has received a delegation of lawmakers from Poland.
During a meeting with the lawmakers on Wednesday, Ma said bilateral trade has grown by more than 30% since he came into office. The president also said that 20 Taiwanese businesses have invested US$200 million in Poland, creating 4,500 jobs.
Ma also spoke about a youth working holiday agreement that Taiwan and Poland signed last year and an air freight agreement the two countries signed this year.
He thanked Poland’s legislators for two letters to the Polish government supporting Taiwan’s participation in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the International Civil Aviation Organization. Ma also said he would like to see Taiwan and the EU, of which Poland is a member, conclude an economic cooperation agreement.
During their time in Taiwan, the Polish delegation has also met with KMT legislator Pan Wei-kang, who praised the Polish people’s commitment to democracy and expressed hope for further bilateral exchanges.
