Six Taiwanese injured in Bangkok blast
Tragedy

At least 20 persons have died and over 100 have been injured from a bombing Monday evening in Bangkok. Six of the injured were Taiwanese. The blast happened near the Erawan Shrine, next to a five-star hotel in the center of Bangkok's Chidlom district. The shrine is a popular tourist site.

Among the injured are six Taiwanese tourists. Two father and daughter pairs were hurt. One father was more seriously injured and has undergone an operation, which went smoothly. One daughter suffered broken bones. Another two Taiwanese tourists experienced major burns due to the blast and are being treated at the hospital.

Thailand’s foreign ministry has warned people to stay away from the Bangkok district. Taiwan’s foreign ministry has issued a yellow travel advisory. A yellow alert means that travelers should pay special attention to their personal safety if travel to the country cannot be avoided.

Taiwan’s representative office in Thailand has been in contact with Taiwanese tourists there who have been injured in this tragedy. Taiwan’s tourism bureau said there were 14 Taiwanese tour groups with 275 individuals in Thailand as of Tuesday.
