Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) chairman William Tseng is set to lead a delegation to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in September.
The goal of the trip is to help Taiwanese financial institutions tap into the ASEAN market. Taiwanese banks have a presence in Southeast Asia, but many countries in the region have entry barriers such as limits on foreign holdings in place.
Tseng says he hopes he will be able to sign memorandums of understanding with ASEAN countries during the upcoming trip. He also said the presence of Taiwanese banks in ASEAN countries will help both the local financial industry and Taiwanese businesses operating in Southeast Asia.
