Taiwanese tennis duo Chan Yung-jan and Chan Hao-cing have advanced to the semifinals at the Western and Southern Open in the American city of Cincinnati.
On Friday the Chan sisters defeated Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta from Italy to advance to the semifinals. The Chan sisters came back from losing the first set 6-7 to win the next two 7-6, 19-17.
Meanwhile, another Taiwanese duo, Hsieh Su-wei and Chuang Chia-jung were knocked out of the tournament by Casey Dellacqua from Australia and Yaroslava Shvedova from Kazakhstan.
The teams are vying for a purse of US$2.7 million in the competition, which will conclude this weekend.
