New figures from the government statistics office show that this year has seen the lowest July unemployment rate in 15 years.
The statistics office released its figures on July unemployment Monday. July’s unemployment rate reached 3.82% .Unemployment rose by 0.11% between June and July, an increase caused by the entry of recent graduates into the workforce.
The figures show that the average unemployment rate for the year so far is also at its lowest in 15 years.
Unemployment was highest among those aged 15-24 and among those with a university education or higher degree.
Taiwan’s July unemployment rate was the second highest in the region, in between South Korea at 3.9% and Japan at 3.4%.
