President Ma Ying-jeou attended the opening ceremony of the 2015 Taipei International Linkage Industry Expo on Wednesday. He said that the United States’ reindustrialization and the Germany policy Industry 4.0 have had an impact on the world.
Ma said that in order for Taiwan to keep up, the Cabinet is set to propose a plan called Productivity 4.0. He said that the government has been improving the structure of the nation’s industries in order to make them more competitive. He said that Productivity 4.0 can help Taiwan to keep playing a key role in the global manufacturing industry.
“The Cabinet has proposed Productivity 4.0. We will invest at least NT$4 billion each year for the coming nine years in electronics, information technology, metal tools, machine tools, food, textiles, retail, logistics, and agriculture," said Ma. "Productivity 4.0 does not just cater to the manufacturing industry, it also consolidates Taiwan’s irreplaceable role in the global supply chain.”
President Ma said the goal is to help increase the gross per capita output of the manufacturing, service, and agriculture sectors by 40 to 70 percent by 2024.
