National Development Council optimistic about Taiwan’s economic outlook

The National Development Council is cautiously optimistic about Taiwan’s economic outlook.

The council, a Cabinet-level policy making body, issued a green light on Monday for the economic indicator for March. That’s a sign of stable growth.

The council said that export growth in the areas of mechanics and electrical equipment in February had fueled economic recovery.

The council said that thanks to a recovery in Europe and the United States, Taiwan’s exports are likely to continue to grow and that domestic demand will gradually gather momentum.

However, the council cautioned against potential risks in China and other emerging countries.

The launch of the iPhone 6 in the second half of this year and new PC purchases are likely to help boost Taiwan’s ICT industry and keep up momentum in local investment.
