Convenience store chains not to sell controversial EasyCard
Too racy?

Most convenience store chains in the greater Taipei area say they will not sell controversial EasyCards that feature Japanese porn star Yui Hatano. EasyCards are stored value cards used for taking public transportation and making small payments.

7-Eleven, FamilyMart, and OK Mart announced that they decided not to sell EasyCards featuring the porn star because the public has different views about this issue. Hi-Life convenience store chain said it will make a decision next week.

The EasyCard Corporation announced recently that it will sell a special version of the card featuring Hatano. Despite criticism from some sectors of society, the company stood by its decision. The company has said that it believed the card series would attract attention because of Hatano’s popularity on the Internet.
