Artists from both Taiwan and China are showing their work at an exhibition at Taipei 101. The exhibit marks the 70th anniversary of the victory over Japan.
Master calligraphers, including the internationally renowned Au Ho-nien gave demonstrations at the opening ceremony on Saturday.
Using a large calligraphy brush, Au composed a short poem to memorialize the eight-year War of Resistance against Japan, which lasted from 1937 to 1945.
He told guests attending the opening ceremony that people should learn to face this bitter chapter in history with peace in mind.
The exhibition of calligraphy and traditional Chinese paintings by contemporary artists from Taiwan and China is co-sponsored by the International KaDhamPa Global Information Network, the Chinese Calligraphy Society, the China International Exchange Association and Want Daily.
