The foreign ministry is set to release videos on Tuesday to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance against Japan.
Republic of China (ROC) troops led the fight against a Japanese invasion, in what is known as the Second Sino-Japanese War, which lasted from 1937 to 1945. The Republic of China has since moved from Mainland China to Taiwan, where it governs to this day.
Deputy Foreign Minister Vanessa Shih said the videos are aimed at reminding the world of the contributions made by the ROC during WWII. She said these contributions are largely unknown or ignored by the rest of the world.
Shih said the videos will give an accurate picture of the sad chapter in modern Chinese history, and of Taiwan’s return to Republic of China rule following the war.
The five English videos have already been uploaded to the foreign ministry’s YouTube platform, which is called “Trending Taiwan”. Click here to watch the videos.
