Taiwan hopes that the US state of Georgia will set up an office in Taiwan. That’s the word from the director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta, Stephen Tai in an article to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Tai said Taiwan hopes to join the regional trade pact, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Taiwan has the advantage of being a good place to enter the Asian market, especially the Chinese market. In the article, Tai said that Taiwan is faced with global economic regional integration and hopes to sign more trade pacts with other countries.
The United States currently has 12 states that have set up offices in Taiwan. Tai said that Georgia should consider setting up an office in Taiwan as well.
Tai stated that Taiwan is Georgia’s seventh largest export country. Taiwan also has investment worth more than US$120 million in the southeastern state of the US.
