Over 300 industry leaders are attending a cross-strait business forum in Taipei to further cross-strait business ties. The forum is sponsored by Taiwan’s National Federation of Industries and China’s Guizhou Province.
Top officials such as Guizhou Provincial Party Secretary Zhao Kezhi, former Vice President Lien Chan, Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) Chairman Lin Join-sane and Hon Hai CEO Terry Gou are attending.
Lien spoke about the cross-strait commitment to furthering ties. "During my two meetings [with Chinese President Xi Jinping], we’ve expressed that we’re on the path of cross-strait peace and development. This is the right path and we cannot turn back. We need to persevere on this road," said Lien.
SEF Chairman Lin Join-sane said that the two sides have already signed 21 agreements. Lin is Taiwan’s top official in charge of cross-strait exchanges. He likened the agreements to 21 roads that are building a win-win situation. Taiwan is a diverse society with many opinions. He said once those opinions are heard, the government will make a right decision in the interests of the people.
Guizhou Provincial Party Secretary Zhao Kezhi said that Taiwan has a lot that his province can learn from. He looks forward to working with Taiwan in electronics, agriculture, tourism and culture and education.
