European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) held a forum Tuesday in Taipei to introduce investment opportunities in West Asia and Central Europe.
TAITRA, Taiwan’s external trade association, says that EBRD invests nearly US$10 billion in development projects every year, and many sectors of Taiwan can participate in the investment projects.
TAITRA’s Secretary-General Huang Wen-jung explained. Huang said, “The government has listed out many well-performing sectors, including the Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system. They’re performing well here. EBRD spoke about how systems like this should expand to many other countries, including the US. Taiwan is able to export these systems abroad. But we need to integrate resources from different sectors to make it happen.”
Huang also pointed out that Taiwanese sectors like engineering, internet and communications technology, green energy, and finance, can participate in the investment projects.
Taiwan is now participating in EBRD’s annual meeting as a Special Observer, and running the Taiwan Business-EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund together with the bank.
