Taiwan’s military simulations have ended

Taiwan’s military simulations have ended. The non-stop war games that began early on Monday morning were bigger in scale than in past years with 30 government agencies participating in the simulated attacks.

President Ma Ying-jeou, along with other high-ranking officials, arrived at the national command center Tuesday morning to inspect Taiwan’s contingency plans for cyber-attacks. Ma called for inter-ministerial coordination so that effective policies can be mapped out to cope with various challenges.

The National Security Council (NSC) said the purpose of this year’s military simulations is to strengthen Taiwan’s national security mechanism and to deal with cyber-attacks on government agencies. The NSC said increased cyber-attacks and the sophisticated techniques used have posed a threat to the world.

The NSC also said the military simulations covered domestic affairs, international relations and cross-strait ties. They focused on the protection of critical information infrastructure (CII), strategic communication and resource integration.
