Germany to decide venue of Taiwan's Red Dot Museum
Unsightly cracks

Taipei's Red Dot Museum is going to let Germany decide whether they should stay in the current location at Songshang Cultural Park. The world class design museum is considering moving out of the Songshan Cultural Park because its venue has been damaged by construction work on the nearby Taipei Dome. It's lease also just expired.

City officials have expressed that they will continue to communicate with the museum on the matter. The museum said that it is not ruling out any possibility for a new venue but it did not say it would move to Shanghai.

Deputy commissioner with Taipei’s cultural department Tian Wei said restoration will start next month. Repair work on the museum will likely be completed this year.

Taipei’s Red Dot Design Museum is one of just three Red Dot museums in the world. It opened in Taipei two years ago. The other two are located in Essen, Germany, and Singapore.
