Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen has a lead of nearly 30 percent in the presidential campaign. That was the word from The China Times about a recent DPP poll conducted after China’s military parade.
The survey showed Tsai has the support of over 45 percent of respondents. That’s compared to Legislature Vice President Hung Hsiu-chu’s 19 percent, and People First Party Chairman James Soong’s 18 percent. Tsai spoke on Tuesday about the survey:
“We’re not sure where this survey came from as there are many different kinds of them, and they usually present different results," said Tsai.
"There is still 4 months to go until the election. We’ll still be on our toes in the next 4 months.”
The poll also showed the respondents trust Tsai more than Hung in terms of cross-strait policy. In response, Tsai said she thinks the public appreciates her steady approach towards cross-strait policy-making.
