President Ma Ying-jeou and members of the European Parliament will discuss Taiwan’s relations with Europe and peace in the Asia-Pacific region during a videoconference. This is the first time that Ma will hold a videoconference with members of the European Parliament since he took office in 2008.
According to the foreign ministry on Friday, Ma has been invited by chairman of the EP-Taiwan Friendship Group Werner Langen to address members of the European Parliament on September 29. He will also take questions after his speech.
The foreign ministry said the president’s speech will focus on strengthening Taiwan-Europe relations and maintaining peace in the Asia-Pacific region. The participating European parliamentarians will include members of the committees on foreign affairs, economic affairs, international trade, energy, and transportation.
Radio Taiwan International will broadcast the videoconference live in Chinese and English.
