The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) has issued a land warning for Typhoon Dujuan.
The warning was issued at 5:30 pm Sunday. Typhoon Dujuan is forecast to have the biggest impact on Taiwan from Monday afternoon till Tuesday morning. Heavy rain is likely to hit Taipei, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Keelung City, Ilan County and Hsinchu County.
As of Sunday afternoon, the storm was centered around 500 kilometers east south-east of Hualien in eastern Taiwan. It was moving at a speed of 14 kilometers per hour in a northwesterly direction towards the coastal areas of eastern Taiwan.
The CWB issued a sea warning for Typhoon Dujuan on Sunday morning.
Forecaster Lo Ya-yin said on Sunday that the chances of Dujuan moving towards the north have reduced due to the increasing strength of a high pressure system in the Pacific Ocean.
The CWA is calling on the public to prepare for flooding, triggered by tidal waves, in low-lying and coastal areas of eastern and northern Taiwan, as well as in the Bashi Channel.
