Typhoon Dujuan swept over Taiwan Monday and left 3 dead and 376 injured. That’s the latest figure released Tuesday by the government’s disaster contingency center. One of the deaths was a roughly 70-year old man who was blown over by the wind and died. The other was a construction worker who was killed by building material that fell during the storm.

The Central Weather Bureau lifted its land and sea warnings for Typhoon Dujuan at 5:30 pm Tuesday.

Before the storm hit Taiwan Saturday, more than 12,000 people islandwide had been evacuated by the government.

Typhoon Dujuan left 540,000 households without electricity and 180,000 households without water. It is expected that power will resume Tuesday night and tap water will be available when it meets drinking standards.

Deputy Interior Minister Lin Tzu-ling on Tuesday said government agencies should be on the lookout for floods and mudslides. She also promised to resume services to the public.

Lin said, “[We] will fix facilities such as power, water and telecommunications as soon as possible, depending on weather conditions. We would also like to call on maintenance workers to pay attention to their personal safety.”

Lin called on the public to stay away from the sea due to the high waves.
