Over a third of students from China receiving their undergraduate degree in Taiwan are continuing on to graduate school here. That was the finding from a recent Ministry of Education survey of the first group of Chiniese students to graduate from university in Taiwan.
There are 686 Chinese students have graduated from university this year in Taiwan. This year’s graduating class is the first to include full-time undergraduate students from China.
246 Chinese students from this year’s class have been accepted to Taiwanese graduate schools. That’s over 35% of graduating Chinese students. Over 80% of the students from China said they were happy with their academic life and their life in Taiwan.
The ministry said that over 80% of the Chinese students support the opening of Taiwanese universities to students from China. But they hope that they will be afforded the same scholarships, health insurance, and work opportunities as foreign students.
