The leaders of Haiti and the Solomon Islands have both spoken on cross-strait issues at the UN General Debates. Both countries are diplomatic allies of Taiwan.
At Thursday’s session, Haitian President Michel Joseph Martelly said that Haiti is pleased to see improved ties between Taiwan and Mainland China.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands, Manasseh Sogavare, called on the International Civil Aviation Organization and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change to include Taiwan.
The two leaders are the latest in a series of speakers representing Taiwan’s allies to voice their views on cross-strait affairs and Taiwan’s inability to participate in UN agencies.
