Taiwan’s presidential candidates will soon get security teams provided by the National Security Bureau (NSB). That was the word from the bureau’s Director-General Yang Kuo-chian at the legislature on Monday.
The security of the presidential candidates has come into the spotlight, with elections scheduled to take place next January.
Yang said the NSB has prepared four security details, which will start work at the end of November. Each team has 55 members. They will ensure the safety of candidates from Taiwan’s three major political parties, with a fourth team serving as a stand-by.
The NSB has also said it will provide for the security needs of the candidates when they attend National Day events this coming weekend.
