The Taiwanese company Asus is the third biggest tablet vendor in the world. That’s the word from a report released on Thursday by the International Data Corporation (IDC).
Apple is still the largest tablet vendor with a market share of 32.5%. Samsung came second, taking 22.3% of the market. Taiwan’s Asus has a market share of 5%.
The report said sales of tablets including new convertible PCs in the first quarter totaled 50.4 million. That’s a growth of just 3.9% from the same period last year, and down 35.7% from the fourth quarter of 2013.
IDC said the slow growth is due to market saturation and that people are using large-screen smartphones instead.
