Taiwan’s economy will improve after the first quarter of 2016: Official
Woody Duh

Taiwan’s economy is likely to improve after the first quarter of next year. That’s the word from National Development Council (NDC) Minister Woody Duh on Monday.

Duh told lawmakers that the economy will see a turn for better because the fourth quarter of the year is the peak season for Taiwan’s information and communications technology (ICT) industry.

Duh also said that although growth in exports is expected in November and December, that does not mean that Taiwan’s economy will see a sharp rebound.

Duh’s comments come after the government statistics office said that Taiwan will have trouble maintaining a GDP growth rate above 1% for this year.

As the head of the National Development Council, Duh is in charge of the design and implementation of Taiwan’s overall plan for economic development.
