Shares in Taiwan moved higher to close above the 8,600-point mark Thursday, with buying focused on the semiconductor sector, led by the world's largest contract chip maker, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
Taiwan shares closed 0.93% higher. The TAIEX rose by 5.80 points at 8,601.52.
