President Ma Ying-jeou says international youth exchanges have changed the world. Ma was speaking Saturday during the presentation of this year’s youth ambassador exchange program.
The program is sponsored by Taiwan’s foreign ministry
Ma said that exchanges among youth ambassadors have helped to gradually increase the international community’s friendliness towards Taiwan. Ma also said the program has given the world a better understanding of Taiwan’s role as an asset rather than a burden on the global stage.
Ma also said the exchange program has introduced Chinese culture to the rest of the world.
The president said he hopes that the Republic of China will be a well-respected country.
The Republic of China is Taiwan’s official name.
