The government is looking to build a cloud computing network. That was the word from Finance Minister Chang Sheng-ford on Monday.
Chang said cloud computing is a powerful tool and it can help the government map out policies.
“We did not have the ability to conduct analyses in the past due to the huge volume of data," said Chang, "but the power of cloud computing now makes it possible. [Cloud computing] helps us map out policies more precisely. Recently we used big data to calculate who can benefit the most from pay hikes, so it was used as an analytical tool.”
Chang said that in the short term the finance ministry is planning to use cloud computing to process state funds and assets. Chang also said his ministry will team up with the academic community to make cloud computing more value-added.
