2015 LPGA Taiwan Championship tees off
LPGA Taiwan Championship

South Korean golfer Eun-Hee Ji is leading after round one in the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship on Thursday. She fired a 6-under 66 to clinch the top position in a field of about 80 international competitors. Ji fired seven birdies and one bogey to take a one-shot lead over her closest competitor, China's Lin Xiyu.

Meanwhile local favorite Yani Tseng, who was the 2011 LPGA champion, achieved the best score among 20 Taiwanese players in the tournament. She shot three birdies, one bogey, and one double-bogey to finish on an even-par 72. That puts her along with another Taiwanese golfer, Chen Meng-chu, tied in 27th place.

World no. 2 Lydia Ko of New Zealand, and world no. 8 Amy Yang of South Korea, each scored a 3-under 69 to tie for 7th on the leaderboard.

The tournament is being held at the Miramar Golf and Country Club in New Taipei City, and will last through Sunday.
