Chan sisters advance at Singapore’s WTA
Second win

Chan Hao-Ching and Chan Yung-Jan won their second round robin match of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore on Tuesday. The Taiwanese sisters won over the US and Czech team Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova. This second win is putting them in good position to make it to the semifinals.

The WTA finals are divided into two divisions where four teams play against each other. The top two teams in each division make it into the semifinals. Only the top players can play in the WTA finals. The WTA finals is considered the most competitive contest outside of the grand slam tournaments. The WTA finals are from October 25 to November 1 this year in Singapore.

The Chan sisters are the third pair of sisters in history to enter the finals and the first pair of sisters from Asia.

Chan Hao-Ching and Chan Yung-Jan have the second-most WTA doubles titles for a pair of sisters in WTA history after only Serena Williams and Venus Williams. The Chan sisters won their fourth WTA doubles title together at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati in 2015.
