Ma: Taiwan working to provide humanitarian healthcare assistance

President Ma Ying-jeou says that Taiwan is seeking to play a humanitarian role by providing healthcare assistance to areas facing public health crises.

Ma was speaking Friday with President of the World Medical Association, Sir Michael Marmot. Ma said that Taiwan donated 100,000 sets of protective gear and a sum of US$1 million to areas affected by Ebola.

Ma also said that the government pays particular attention to the state of long-term healthcare and children’s health. He said that the government is continuing work to improve equitable access to healthcare in Taiwan.
