The US State Department says that it looks forward to discussing a wide range of issues with KMT presidential candidate Eric Chu.
Chu will visit the US from November 10 to 16. He will go to Los Angeles, Washington DC, New York and San Francisco. His main opponent in the elections, DPP candidate Tsai Ing-wen, visited the US in June.
At a press briefing Tuesday, head of the State Department’s Office of Press Relations, Elizabeth Trudeau, said that the State Department welcomes Chu’s visit.
She also said the United States will not take sides in the election and that the outcome of Taiwan’s election is a matter for the people of Taiwan to decide.
