Tourism Bureau Director David Hsieh says that cross-strait tourism has seen growth in both directions this year.

He was speaking Friday at an annual cross-strait travel fair in Taipei.

Hsieh said that from January to September, arrivals of Mainland tourists in Taiwan broke three million, a growth rate of more than 5%. Meanwhile, the number of Taiwanese tourists arriving in the Mainland during the same period broke four million, a growth rate of nearly 3%.

Hsieh said that Taiwan is promoting high-end tours, tours of aboriginal villages, and tours of Taiwan’s outlying islands in an effort to bring Mainland tourists to Taiwan’s most scenic spots.
