Taiwan to continue offering assistance to Haiti: Ma
Haitian Ambassador Rachel Coupaud and President Ma Ying-jeou
President Ma Ying-jeou says that Taiwan will continue offering assistance to Haiti. Ma was speaking Monday during a meeting with Haiti’s newly-appointed ambassador to Taiwan, Rachel Coupaud.

Ma said that bilateral cooperation in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, justice, academic exchanges, and medical care have shown positive results. Ma also said that Taiwan has successfully helped the Caribbean country with its food safety problems.

The president promised closer cooperation.

"In the future, our government is more than happy to continue supporting various cooperative programs in line with the major policy goals of the Haitian government," Ma said. "[We] will offer full support for Haiti’s national development, especially when it comes to assistance with solar power and vocational training programs, so that Haiti will see sustainable development."

President Ma visited Haiti in July. As of next year, the two sides will have enjoyed 60 years of diplomatic ties.
