The foreign ministry is calling on Taiwanese nationals to avoid all unnecessary travel to Paris after a series of terrorist attacks around the city on Friday night.
On Saturday, ministry spokesperson Eleanor Wang said that the foreign ministry has not raised the level of its travel alert for France.
Wang said that the ministry will evaluate the situation in France before making any adjustments to the level of its travel alert. She also said that the foreign ministry will consider the views of other government agencies and the travel alerts issued by other countries before making any changes.
Wang said that the foreign ministry will update the public if the government decides to raise the level of its travel advisory.
Wang said that Taiwan’s representative office in France is working to contact Taiwanese nationals currently in France. There are no reports indicating that Taiwanese nationals were among the victims of Friday’s attacks.
