On this day in 1920, the first assembly of the League of Nations was held in Geneva, Switzerland.

On this day in 1969, during the Vietnam War, 250,000-500,000 protesters took to the streets of Washington DC, staging a peaceful demonstration against the war, including a symbolic "March Against Death".

On this day in 1971, Intel released the world's first commercial single-chip microprocessor.

And on this day in 2012, Xi Jinping became General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and a new seven-member Politburo Standing Committee was inaugurated.
