Several US politicians have praised the outcome of the recent meeting between the leaders of Taiwan and China.
US Senator Orrin Hatch said on Tuesday via Twitter that he was grateful for the two leader’s efforts to make the meeting possible.
US Congressmen Luke Messer and Robert Brady have said that a summary of President Ma Ying-jeou’s talks and press conferences with Chinese leader Xi Jinping should be logged into the records of the US Congress. Messer said on Wednesday that he agrees with Ma’s view that the leaders of Taiwan and China should meet regularly in the future. He said that he believes the Ma-Xi meeting is an important step in improving regional ties and stability. Meanwhile, on Thursday, Brady expressed praise for President Ma Ying-jeou’s leadership in pursuing long term peace across the Taiwan Strait.
