Taiwanese weightlifter Hsu Shu-ching won two golds and a silver at the IWF World Weightlifting Championships in Houston, Texas on Sunday.
Competing in the 53kg category, Hsu lifted a 96 kg in the snatch and a 125 kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 221 kg. That gave her two golds and one silver. That was the first time Hsu won a gold for her weightlifting total.
This was Hsu’s first international competition of the year. In 2014, she won a gold and set a new world record at the Asian Games by lifting a total of 233 kg.
The IWF championships were the qualifying contests for the 2016 Olympics, which means she now has a ticket to the games.
