St. Lucia’s first ambassador to Taiwan, Hubert Emmanuel, has delivered his credentials to President Ma Ying-jeou. Emmanuel met with Ma at the Presidential Office Building on Thursday.
During the meeting Ma said that St. Lucia and Taiwan have successfully cooperated in the areas of basic infrastructure, agriculture, medicine, and education. Ma also thanked St. Lucia for speaking on Taiwan’s behalf on the global stage and for supporting Taiwan’s participation in international organizations. Ma said he hopes to see St. Lucia and Taiwan continue to enjoy stable and friendly relations.
Ma told Emmanuel that he felt the warmth of the St. Lucian people during the time he has spent in the country. Ma said that Taiwan has been working to attract international students to its universities through scholarship programs. He said that 30 students from St. Lucia have already returned from study under these programs in Taiwan to contribute what they have learned to St. Lucian society.
