KMT presidential candidate Eric Chu has officially opened his campaign office. Nearly ten thousand supporters flooded the road in front of the office at the opening Saturday.
Important members of the party, including President Ma Ying-jeou, vice president Wu Den-yih, Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng, and former vice presidents Lien Chan and Vincent Siew attended the opening ceremony to show their support.
Premier Mao Chi-kuo also attended the event to wish good luck to the campaign. In his remarks, he spoke about the achievements of the current administration under KMT leadership. He said results of government policies included improved cross-strait relationship and new MRT lines.
Mao said the cross-strait relationship has been stable and that Taiwan’s international relations have improved as a result. He said cross-strait peace could only be achieved if the KMT continues in its position as ruling party.
