China’s top negotiator with Taiwan visited a museum in the central Taiwan city of Taichung on Sunday before returning to China. The official is Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) President Chen Deming.
Before his departure, Chen said that his trip had given him insight into public opinion that would help him carry out his duties. He said that he will visit Taiwan again.
Since arriving last Monday, Chen has visited Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Yilan, Hsinchu, Miaoli and Nantou. He told reporters on Saturday that he hopes to visit again next year to get a better understanding of Taiwan. Chen, who has visited Taiwan four times, said he felt cross-strait relations have gradually improved.
