Taiwan and Malaysia on Thursday signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation in aboriginal agriculture.
The agreement will allow Taiwanese cultural and agricultural delegations to visit Malaysia’s aboriginal villages, aboriginal museums and agriculture experimental park. The agreement will bring together Malaysia’s natural resources and Taiwanese expertise in the production and marketing of agricultural products. This will give aboriginal agricultural products from Malaysia an advantage in the Southeast Asian market.
Taiwanese and Malaysian aborigines are both Austronesian peoples. Taiwan is Malaysia’s fourth largest foreign investor, investing a total of US$11.8 billion in Malaysia during 2014. Malaysia is Taiwan’s eighth largest trading partner.
