Former air force HQ to become center for art and innovation
Premier: a new art and innovation center for Taiwan

Premier Mao Chi-kuo says the former air force headquarters in downtown Taipei will be turned into a center for art and innovation. Mao was speaking Saturday at the opening ceremony of a forum on the project.

Mao said that the government has mapped out a plan for the future of the former headquarters, though the blueprint is still in the preliminary stages. He said the area will be divided into four villages, one each for web innovation, social innovation, art, and maker culture.

Mao said he hopes the four villages will help foster exchanges between people working in different fields and allow them to share their creativity.

The National Culture and Arts Foundation (NCAF) will be responsible for building the art village.

Stan Shih, head of the foundation, delivered a keynote speech at the ceremony of the forum Saturday. Shih called on the government and the public to make good use of the area so that the value of Taiwan’s diversity and capabilities will be more meaningful to the next generation.
