EPA to work with China, Japan, and Korea on smog
Smog hits Taiwan
Taiwan hopes to work with China, Japan, and Korea to come up with a mechanism for controlling air pollution. That’s the word from environment minister Wei Kuo-yen on Thursday. Wei was speaking after smog hit Taiwan after traveling southward from China on seasonal northeast winds.

"Firstly, we hope to work together with China, Japan and Korea in collecting data on land and at sea. We hope to confirm the sources of the pollutants by conducting joint research and using methods that all parties agree on," Wei said. "After we are sure of the sources, we will have better ways for resolving and dealing with the air pollution problem in the future."

Wei said that Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration has already listed the smog issue as a priority in negotiations with its Chinese counterpart.
