Two high-ranking officials from Taiwan are set to attend presidential inaugurations in the allied nations of Guatemala and Burkina Faso.
Burkina Faso’s President-elect Roch March Christian Kabore is scheduled to take office at the end of December. Taiwan’s Control Yuan President Wu Jin-lin will attend the inauguration on behalf of President Ma Ying-jeou.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister David Lin will lead a delegation to Guatemala for the inauguration of President-elect Jimmy Morales Cabrera on January 14th.
The foreign ministry said on Monday that both countries have close ties with Taiwan.
