Taiwan-Japan relations will not be affected by Taiwan’s presidential election in 2016. That was the word from foreign ministry official Chang Jen-joe on Monday during a press conference.
Chang currently serves as the foreign ministry’s director of the Association of East Asian Relations. He has been managing Japan-related affairs for 30 years. And for the past seven years, relations between the two sides have been improving with big strides.
Chang said no matter who the next president will be, Taiwan and Japan’s relations will continue to improve.
“I believe in the future, no matter who will serve as Taiwan’s next president, Taiwan-Japan relations will continue to move forward. In the upcoming months, I believe there will be some positive developments. You can all expect great news next year, ” said Chang.
Chang also said that the association has received over 200 Japanese delegations so far this year, including 64 lawmakers and 19 local officials.
