Taipei has released the 2016 edition of its city tourist pass.
The annual “Taipei Pass” is a booklet containing information and coupons for visitors to the city. The city’s tourism department said Thursday that this new pass features discounts at more than 100 shops. The discounts include souvenir vouchers, hotel coupons, restaurant coupons, and discounted tickets to tourist sites.
The new pass also includes four suggested itineraries in Taipei, one for each season. These are designed to help tourists enjoy the fun of living, traveling, and shopping in Taiwan’s capital city.
Tourism department commissioner Chien Yu-yen said that 2016 will be a very important year for Taipei. Chien said that Taipei will become one of Asia’s must-visit cities in the New Year. She said the city government will help the private sector to let travelers experience the fun, culture, and food that Taipei has to offer.
According to the tourism department, the new pass will be available at Taipei’s MRT stations starting January 1. Anyone buying a Taipei tourist card will receive a free Taipei pass. There are 65,000 copies of the pass ready for tourists in Chinese, English, and Japanese.
