President Ma Ying-jeou’s Cabinet is set to resign en masse by February 1. That was the word from the Cabinet’s secretary-general, Chien Tai-lang, on Monday.
Chien said the resignation is in line with constitutional practice and usually occurs before newly-elected legislators take office.
Chien said, however, that it is up to President Ma Ying-jeou to make the final decision because Ma’s presidency lasts through May 20th.
The Cabinet has said that it will not deal with major policy or personnel issues after the presidential and legislative elections take place on January 16.
